We’ve been making some improvements in our Facebook Ads integration over the past few weeks. And when Facebook Ads released a new version of their Marketing API a few months ago, we decided to use the opportunity to upgrade our own integration. The result is an integration that’s faster, more efficient, and overall easier to use!
Basically, when we switched versions, we also upgraded the system foundation on which the Facebook Ads integration was. Without getting into the technical details, as a whole, the use of the integration should be a lot more efficient (which is basically the whole point of DashThis, right?).
The long and the short of it is: your Facebook Ads widgets should now load your data faster than they used to!
In addition, once you’ve added the Facebook Ads integration and various data sources to your account, you won’t need to do it again for every new dashboard. When you go to create a new dashboard, your Facebook Ads sources will be automatically available for you to choose from (instead of having to manually add them back in every time you want to create a new dashboard).
Lastly, we took the opportunity to update our metrics and dimensions; we’ve added some new dimensions, and changed metric and dimension names to match the names found in Facebook Ads. This way, it’ll be easier for you to create your Facebook Ads widgets, since you’re probably used to the Facebook terminology anyway!
But don’t worry, even if you only remember the old DashThis names, you’ll still be able to find what you’re looking for! When you’re adding a metric/dimension to your widget, you can search with either the old or the new name: the metric/dimension will still be found. It used to be a pain to find the metric you wanted… now, no matter if you want to use the Facebook term, or the old DashThis term, you’ll always find what you need!
We’ve even added descriptions for each and every metric/dimension to make sure you get what you’re looking for: you can read them by hovering over the little information icon next to the metric/dimension!
